Palmer claims Premier League Player of the Month crown

Cole Palmer is the EA SPORTS Player of the Month for April 2024, winning the award for the first time.

The Chelsea midfielder led the league for goals, scoring seven times despite making only four appearances.

He also got an assist to directly contribute to eight goals in April, a total no player could beat.

It means Palmer has an April awards double, having also won the Budweiser Goal of the Month award.

He is the first Chelsea player in Premier League history to win both the EA SPORTS Player of the Month and the Budweiser Goal of the Month awards in the same month.

Palmer’s April goals took him up to second in the race for this season’s Castrol Golden Boot award. His hat-trick in a 4-3 win over Manchester United included equalising and winning goals in second-half stoppage time.

He then netted four times in a 6-0 victory over Everton as he became the first Chelsea player to score in seven straight Premier League home appearances, and the earliest ever scorer of a Chelsea hat-trick in a match, completing a treble within 29 minutes of kick-off.

A previous winner of the PL2 Player of the Month award back in October 2020 while at Manchester City, Palmer also becomes the first Chelsea player to receive the accolade since Eden Hazard in September 2018.

The 22-year-old topped a six-man shortlist after the public’s votes on the EA SPORTS website were combined with those of a panel of football experts.

You can also vote for him to be the 2023/24 EA SPORTS Player of the Season, after an eight-man shortlist was revealed on Thursday.
