Lionel Messi set to miss 2024 Olympics as Argentina choose 3 players over-23

Messi is predicted to be one of Argentina’s over-age players at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

However, according to the latest information from TEAMTalk, Mascherano has chosen three other over-age players to participate in the Paris Olympics : three Manchester City stars including Julian Alvarez, Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and Benfica’s Nicolas Otamendi.

Meanwhile, Messi will return to his club right after the Copa America in the US ends to help Inter Miami defend the Leagues Cup.

Argentina will compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics and their squad includes 18 U23 players, with a maximum of 3 overage players allowed.

On the morning of April 7, Inter Miami welcomed Colorado at home, part of the 8th round of MLS 2024.

Messi came off the bench and contributed a goal to help the home team get a 2-2 draw against Colorado.

This result puts Messi’s Inter Miami at risk of being knocked out of the top 3 of MLS, as they are ranked 2nd with 12 points after 8 matches, equal on points with Columbus and Cincinnati but have played 1 match more than their opponents.
